Celebrating Veteran Entrepreneurship! MBFC is honored to present a $3,000 MBFC VetLoan Advantage Rebate to Leah Brooks, Spiritwood Resort – Jamestown, ND!
This rebate reflects Midwest Business Finance Corporation’s (MBFC) long‑standing and voluntary commitment to the NADCO VetLoan Advantage program, supporting veteran‑owned businesses since 2014. Unlike most SBA 504 lenders, MBFC is one of the very few Certified Development Companies that actively participate in this program. To date, MBFC has returned more than $240,000 of its own capital directly to veteran‑owned small businesses through VetLoan rebates — a meaningful financial commitment that goes well beyond standard SBA lending practices and serves as a tangible tribute to the service and dedication of our nation’s military members.
Leah and her husband, William partnered with MBFC, SBA 504 Lending! Michael Stearns and Kristopher Munter, American State Bank to secure a SBA 504 loan for the purchase of Spiritwood Resort in Jamestown, ND. Spiritwood Resort is an established RV rental resort and restaurant located on Spiritwood Lake, located eleven miles north of Jamestown, ND. The resort hosts a 6,000 SF bar and restaurant with banquet room for hosting special events. The campground features seasonal sites and short-term/weekend camping. Spiritwood Resort also has multiple amenities including outdoor stage for concerts, sand volleyball court, basketball court, playground equipment, outdoor pavilion with an outside bar, and a boat ramp.
Leah Brooks and spouse William Brooks will manage the day-to-day operations of the resort. William recently retired from a 27-year career as marching band director at UND. Leah is a school teacher and member of the ND National Guard. Leah enlisted in the ND Army National Guard on January 26th, 2015. Prior to enlisting, she auditioned for and had the opportunity to join the 188th Army Band based in Fargo, ND. This unit has provided many wonderful experiences for Leah and she has been with them since returning from training in 2015. Leah is currently a Staff Sergeant and has served in multiple leadership roles.
Thank you, Leah for your service and congratulations on this exciting new chapter!
