Minnesota Business Finance Corporation (MBFC) presented a grant of $2,000.00 to the Southwest Initiative Foundation (SWIF), located in Hutchinson, MN. Pictured above, Joshua Laffen, Vice President of MBFC, presents the check to Liz Cheney, Vice President of Philanthropy of SWIF. MBFC is the only certified development company in Minnesota to present this type of grant program.

Funding from the grant from MBFC will be used to support economic development with programs at SWIF. They actively provide business finance loans and micro-enterprise loans to businesses in Southwestern Minnesota for business development growth which leads to vibrant communities.

SWIF is known as a “Community Foundation”. A community foundation is a nonprofit, publicly supported charity building permanent funds to support a specific geographic area. Their community is the 18 counties of southwest Minnesota and two Native Nations. SWIF manages 30 local community foundations, known as affiliates, and more than 120 donor-advised, school, and other funds.
